On The Road Again: Behind The Scenes With Ayrshire Gymnastics and Sparta Trampoline Club
Our content team have been busy visiting kids clubs just like yours. We are passionate about getting out of the office to meet the people behind the great kids clubs in the UK. Fostering close relationships in the kids activity space is key to ensuring the continued success and growth of the industry, and, most importantly, keeping kids at the heart of each and every club.
Only 18% of gymnastics clubs in the UK offer disability classes, so there is work still to be done.
Ayrshire Gymnastics
A road trip from our Glasgow HQ sees the team arrive at an exciting gymnastics space in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The team provide classes for around 350 gymnasts from the ages of 18 months to 18 years. Ayrshire Gymnastics Co-founder Tracey spoke to our team about the importance of providing gymnastics for all. She stressed the importance of inclusivity and why all clubs need to consider whether their spaces are truly as accessible as they can be. Tracey reminds us that for a kids club to be truly inclusive, they have to consider what accommodations are being made for the families and loved ones of the kids attending. We hope the news for kids clubs we bring you can both inspire inclusivity and promote change, so let's do something about this issue.
Our team got to see a camp session in action. What’s most special about this is that Ayrshire Gymnastics help secure funding for their kids camp sessions, meaning around 80% of the kids attending get to enjoy them for free with lunches provided too. Removing barriers to sport, both physical and social, can only be a good thing. No child should be denied access to an activity because of factors out-with their control and Ayrshire Gymnastics.

With so many great clubs passionate about serving their local areas, there is no shortage of kids activity industry news!
Next stop, Sparta, who provide recreational, adult, pre-school and competitive classes for gymnasts across the southside of Glasgow. With 6,000 feet of space, there’s room for everyone to practice! Formed in 2015, the team spotted a gap in the local market for recreational trampolining, and jumped at the chance to provide this to kids across Glasgow. Tailored sessions are also important to the team since they offer private lessons and birthday parties. Sparta’s coaches are passionate about welcoming all into trampolining, whether they aim to be competitive or take part recreationally. The club’s newly launched Sparta Sport Awards 2022 award scheme serves to highlight the achievements of competitive gymnasts throughout the year.
Before their big move to their own venue in 2019, the gymnastics club was based in a shared space. A need for more room to grow both physically and metaphorically, it was time to take the leap. 7 years and much success later, Sparta’s mission truly speaks for itself:
"Our mission is to enrich our community’s physical and mental health by providing a world leading trampolining service."
