Welcome to Epping Gymnastics Club! 🤸‍♀️ Founded in 1996 by the amazing Carrie Barfoot when she was just 18 🎉, Epping Gymnastics Club has been flipping, jumping, and cartwheeling at the heart of the Epping community for nearly three decades! We've proudly called Epping Sports Centre on Hemnall Street our home ever since 🏠. In 2022, former gymnast and long-time coach Jessica Bowtell stepped into the role of Head Coach 🌟. With 15 years of gymnastics experience and 14 years of coaching under her belt, Jess brings passion and energy to every session. Carrie is still very much part of the club family and now supports us as one of our Welfare Officers ❤️. Through the ups and downs of the pandemic, our coaches and gymnasts never gave up 💪 — from Zoom workouts in living rooms 💻 to outdoor sessions in local parks 🌳, our love for gymnastics kept us going strong. Over the last couple of years, the club has grown massively 📈! What started as a small squad of 15 is now a buzzing community of 200 gymnasts attending classes every week 🤩. But Epping Gymnastics is more than just a club — it’s a place where friendships grow, confidence builds, and memories are made 💫. Our squad teams have taken part in incredible events over the years — so many, we’ve lost count! 🥇 We’ve had the honour of representing Great Britain at the World Gymnaestrada in Switzerland 🇨🇭 (2011), Helsinki 🇫🇮 (2015), and Austria 🇦🇹 (2019), and we’re regulars at fun national events like the London Festival of Gymnastics 🎪. We also run recreational classes throughout the week for children aged 3 and up 👶➡️👧. Our goal? To help little ones grow into confident, strong, and coordinated kids — all while having a blast 🤗, learning new skills 🌀, and discovering a love for movement 💃. Our progressive play programme is designed to develop your child’s physical skills. Using bespoke colourful equipment, we focus on agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination, which enhances brain development and builds confidence. Every session is supervised by our amazing specially trained staff, getting the best out of each child. Up until 3 years, grown-ups participate as well so that parents, carers and even grandparents can spend time with little ones as they develop. The journey begins for babies from 6 months old who can sit up unaided.
